Work From Home: Lock Down Your Accounts

In the new normal of remote working, there are many concerns that businesses are trying to address when it comes to mitigating cyber risks. It is also important that individuals ramp up their protection – with everyone working from home there is an increased risk of cyber criminals preying on the situation that the COVID-19 pandemic has left us in.

GCA’s Cybersecurity Toolkit for Small Business provides information on ways to strengthen your passwords. You can learn more about how to set up two-factor authentication (2FA) in the Beyond Simple Passwords Toolbox and find additional resources to help further protect your online accounts.

Another important point of focus during this time is your social media accounts. Cyber criminals can take advantage of weak passwords, so taking measures to secure your accounts is another way to protect yourself in the cyber world. Many social media platforms have released COVID-19 related guidelines on measures they are taking to ensure increased account protection; you can view statements here by LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok.

GCA’s Work From Home Campaign is a resource for more information on remote working, including step-by-step instructions you can send to your employees. We have been joined by 23 nonprofits in an effort to increase awareness about cybersecurity during this difficult time and to provide information to businesses and individuals.

You can also visit the GCA Work From Home Community Forum for additional resources and to ask questions – our security experts are here to help you!
